Intensive Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

A number of civilians were injured while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced disruption to drinking water, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on electrical systems over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "substantial measures" from international partners to exert influence on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but decisive action - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in delivering air defence systems and applying restrictions," mentioned in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty rockets targeted Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such strikes as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were working to restore power.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the urban area came under intense attacks overnight. A young boy died and three other people were wounded.

The assaults come after periods of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which are occupied by Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and officials were anticipating further attacks.
